What is the difference between water resistant, waterproof and submersible bags?

Water Resistant Bags

Can withstand light rain and splashes only. Suitable for use where light water resistance is adequate. These bags are generally suitable for use where light splashes may occur. (They are not waterproof).

Waterproof Bags 

This is where our North Storm waterproof bags sit. They will withstand a quick submersion and will float if dropped in the water. Waterproof bags are generally suitable for boating, kayaking or where there is a chance of heavy rain, high seas or capsizing.

Our waterproof bags have a rating of Class 3: IP66. They can handle a quick submersion and have the ability to float. The external zipped pockets are water resistant and are a Class 2: IP65

Submersible Bags

Have the ability to withstand water penetration for up to 30 mins and are submersible to the depth of 1 metre / 3ft. These bags are generally suitable for use in extreme and extended wet conditions.

What is the safest way to wash my waterproof bag?
Care Instructions

Firstly use warm soapy water and wipe down with a sponge to clean. Then rinse off with clean water and clean cloth or sponge. Hang to air dry. Ensure they are completely dry inside and out before your store them.

  • DO NOT use abrasive scourer’s or steel wool.
  • NEVER use bleach or other corrosive cleaners.
  • DON’T EVER machine wash, dry clean or tumble dry. Please hand wash only as any other way may damage the welded seams.
Can I put my waterproof bag in the dryer?
Never place your waterproof bag in the dryer!

It is important to never place any of your bags in the dryer. Placing your waterproof bag in the dryer will certainly damage it and will separate the welded seams.

Always allow your bag to air dry naturally. You can assist the drying process by wiping inside and out with a clean dry cloth. Above all we highly recommend hanging your opened bag upside down to air dry in a well ventilated area.

How do I dry my waterproof bag?
Air dry both inside and out of the bag. Best results are found by hanging the bag upside down and open. This allows the air to flow through the whole bag. Hanging upside down will release any trapped water that may be caught in the corners or folds. Open the pockets during drying time too. To speed up the drying process you can wipe down inside and out with a clean dry cloth.
How should I store my waterproof bag?
Firstly always ensure your bag is completely dry prior to storage.

Above all, only when the bag is completely dry, simply fold loosely in half and place in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight.

Will my waterproof bag float?
It sure will. Each of our waterproof roll top bags float when sealed. Keep in mind when sealing your bag you don’t expel all the air, more air = more buoyancy.

TIP: If you are using your dry bag as tow float while swimming, and have electronics. Always double bag your electronics in a zip-lock bag. Just for that additional layer of protection.

What is North Storms shipping process after I order my waterproof bag?
Once your order is placed and funds have cleared in our account we rush your order to the post office. We only use Australia Post’s services.

Orders are delivered between Australia Post’s business hours Monday – Friday, except for public holidays.

You will receive a tracking number once your order has been shipped so you know exactly where your parcel is at all times. Please ensure you leave a mobile number or email address at the checkout so we can text or email the tracking code to you.

Remote Locations and Islands

Some remote locations and islands may not be serviced by standard delivery. Therefore an additional fee may be charged. However, in this event, we will contact you to advise of any additional charges that may incur.

Please note: Inclement weather conditions can delay shipments, including expedited shipping methods. We are not responsible for late deliveries due to natural disasters or unforeseen weather conditions.

How long will it take for the standard free delivery to reach me?
Typical delivery times are:

  • NSW – Metro – up to 2 – 3 business days
  • NSW – Country – up to 5 – 6 business days
  • QLD – Metro – up to 2 – 3 business days
  • QLD – Country – up to 5 – 6 business days

For all other states outside NSW & QLD

  • Metro – up to 3 – 6 business days
  • Country – up to 5 – 14 business days

Does North Storm ship waterproof bags Internationally?
At this point in time we ship internationally to our New Zealander neighbours only. Although, we do have plans to expand our international shipping in the future.

However, if you just gotta have one of our products and the future seems too distant! Please contact us on sales@northstorm.com.au and we will work something out with you. 🙂

What if my North Storm waterproof bag just isn’t right for me?
That’s cool, we get it… sometimes we change our minds or life happens. If you are thinking of returning your North Storm® product, you have 30 days from the purchase date to return your product. Therefore if 30 days have gone by since the original purchase date, unfortunately we are unable to offer a refund. Above all, to qualify for a refund, all items must be in their original, unused condition, in their original packaging with tags attached.

To complete your return, you can just simply email us your proof of purchase.

All postage and insurance costs are to be paid by the buyer. We have to make the goods your responsibility until they reach our PO Box. Please ensure the item is packed properly and won’t be damaged in transit. We recommend using registered post so you can track your item.

Can I cancel my order?
Of course! Just keep in mind that we work fast and it might get a bit tricky if we have already shipped your order. But please contact us on sales@northstorm.com.au or 0451513888 and we will try our best for you.
What payment methods can I use?
We accept Paypal, Afterpay and Stripe. If you would like to pay via Direct Debit. Please email us on sales@northstorm.com.au and we can send you an invoice directly.

If you don’t have a Paypal, Afterpay account or Credit Card, and you are concerned about privacy. Grab yourself a Credit Card Gift Card. They sell them at any Australia Post Office. They work just like a credit card, but it’s not linked to your bank accounts (they are pre-paid) and you control how much money you want to put on them. 🙂
